Ah summer, days at the beach, backyard barbecues, lounging by the pool. All these outside activities can wreak havoc on your hair. Not to mention humidity!
As a stylist, I hear clients say they struggle in this weather to maintain their locks from drying out. How to manage and tame your look, well let me put the love back in your summer hair. I will walk you through the must haves to combat the drying effects of the sun, wind, and water to protect ones color and defrizz.
#1. Did you know the wind fades your hair color more than the sun or water? The wind creates oxygen in the movement of your hair. One of my favorite professional products is a leave-in conditioner. They can come in a cream or a spray. Moisturizing or volumizing, these treat the ends or your hair and protect with UVA/UVB added. Apply liberally at poolside to protect from the rays and wind with an anti fadage feature. Leave-ins also protects the ends against splits while offering thermal protection. A versatile product that can be the primer for all products. Step 1 to beautiful hair.
#2. One of the hottest products in salons these days are the use of oils. These naturally derived oils such as grape seed nourish dehydrated ends, adding slip and shine. One benefit I see is less frizz that can come from the use of this product, a must in the summer if you struggle with frizz. Another benefit that many people don’t know is that oils take water out of the hair, this can speed up your blow dry. This can cut it down dramatically. Add two-three pumps to your wet ends and finish.
#3. Lastly, my favorite product this summer, not ever far from my beauty bag is shine spray. Add last to your finished style and watch your hair glisten. A must to enhance you color while out in the suns rays. Youthful hair is shiny hair, soft hair shine sprays can give you this. From the coppery reds to buttery blondes, who doesn’t need more shine? Pick up one today and add a little sparkle to your hair. FYI, they won’t collapse your style!
